Mineral King Water and Road News

Both gates on the Mineral King road are open and the West Mineral King water system is on and running.

Here are some of the scheduled activities happening in the Mineral King area this summer. Hope you can join in!

June 26: Silver City and Mineral King's own Esther Zurcher and Keith Hamm will perform at Silver City; 5:00-8:00 p.m.

June 26: Jim Ingram Cowboy Songfest; Silver City Store; 8:15 p.m.

July 4: Meet Rose and Grace Alles at the Alles Cabin; Atwell Mill; 11:00-3:00.

July 10: Hike to the Empire Mine; meet at Monarch parking lot 9:00-5:00; Bring lunch, water, sunscreen, good hiking shoes; strenuous hike.

July 17: MKPS Picnic in the Park; meet SEKI Superintendent Karen Taylor-Goodrich.
Program: Memories of MK Pack Station operator Bill DeCartaret; cabin #16, East Mineral King; Bring lunch, chair, hat. 12:00 noon.

July 17: Evening campfire program: Meet one of the old characters out of Mineral King’s past; Ranger Station campfire circle; 8:00 p.m.

July 31: Hike to White Chief; meet at the Eagle/Mosquito parking lot 9:00-5:00; Bring lunch, water, sunscreen, good hiking shoes; strenuous hike.

July 31: Evening campfire program: Early Life in Mineral King; Ranger Station campfire circle; 8:00 p.m.

August 7: Annual MKDA Membership Meeting, Barton Cabin (WMK #13); 10:30 a.m.; Potluck lunch follows at the Cochrun Cabin (WMK #28).

August 12: Jim Ingram Miners Songfest; Silver City Store; 8:15 p.m.

August 14: Evening campfire program: The Old Miners Return; Ranger Station campfire circle; 8:00 p.m.

August 21: Annual Hoe Down and Picnic; old dance floor above the Eagle/Mosquito parking lot; old-fashioned square dance, live bluegrass music; 5:00-8:00 p.m.

September 4, Labor Day Week-end: Mineral King Valley Indian Walk; meet at the Eagle/Mosquito parking lot; 9:30-11:00; Bring water, sunscreen, good walking shoes

September 5: Meet Rose and Grace Alles at the Alles Cabin; Atwell Mill; 11:00-3:00.
